TheCWB Association's chapter for Vancouver, British Columbia encompasses the city of Vancouver and the lower mainland of BC (Fraser Valley). As the third largest populated metropolis in Canada, this is a vital area of Canada’s commerce with a robust economy and diversified manufacturing sector.
We are pleased to be part of the nationwide network ofCWB Association Chapters across Canada to advance the best practices of welding, fabricating, and the exchange of information to our members. This includes a series of informative seminars open to the public as well as exciting social events. More information will be posted soon with the dates for this season’s schedule of events.
The Vancouver business community includes a number of progressive companies involved in marine, mining, energy, aerospace, medical, hydro, clean technologies, construction, and many more. It is the goal of the Vancouver Chapter to bring together industry and education leaders in a welcoming format to share best practices in the welding and fabrication space. Presentation Abstract:
CSA Standard W47.1 “APP of Companies for Fusion Welding of Steel” includes new provisions for testing of welding personnel and procedures that will help fabricators welding steel materials less than 3mm thickness, stainless-steel materials of all thicknesses and for robotic welding applications. CSA W47.1 will have its own provisions for testing of welding personnel and procedures specific for Marine industry. Significant changes have been made to Annexes E and G “Requirements for Impact (CVN) and Hardness Testing “ in order to address gaps in the requirements for testing and to ensure an easier adoption and interpretation by industry.

This informative presentation will give an opportunity for manufacturers to get a first-hand understanding of the blasting and powder coating technologies for items that have been traditionally the domain of liquid coatings. This presentation will provide valuable information on the latest solutions available for coating technologies and a facility tour.

Submerged Arc Welding Seminar

Submerged Arc Welding is a significant contributor to the success of many companies- increasing productivity, while cutting costs and improving weld integrity and monopolizing on return of investment. Whether you are already using the SAW process or are considering to expand your operations, this seminar is for you! We have a long line-up of experts presenting high-quality technical presentations, and hands-on demonstrations are planned to provide you with a day of valuable resource- everyone is bound to return to operations with new insight.
This event will include discussions on basic and advanced theory of the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) process, including such topics as: SAW Defects and problems, Productivity improvements with AC Waveform controlled SAW, Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy SAW and Line Pipe Manufacturing. An official Program Outline will be shared closer to the event.
Practical SAW and Pipe Mill demonstrations are being provided on site by a variety of Welding Suppliers including ESAB "ICE SAW", Lincoln Electric Company and Miller Electric. Live demonstrations will be held in the KPU Welding Lab - please bring proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to attend this workshop.
