Maintaining our Pipeline Infrastructure

Tran Mah-Paulson, President and CEO, Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC)

Presented At:
Educators Conference 2018

Pipelines are significant to Canada for ensuring our secure energy and economic needs, but we must ensure we protect the environment by keeping the product in the pipe. Over time, pipelines may require either repair or maintenance because of factors such as third party damage or corrosion to prevent leaks and improve pipeline reliability. Repair of in-service pipelines, potentially transporting hazardous products, using welding is a unique field that requires a good technical understanding of welding and materials, along with highly qualified welders who are up for the challenge. When done right, it can be rewarding – when done wrong, it can be devastating.Ìý
