Course Overview
This is a professional level course focusing on comprehensive knowledge of metallurgy. Topics include, identifying the groupings, properties, and applications of engineered materials, identifying the microstructures of steel, interpret the iron-carbon phase diagram, describe tests for identifying metals, and more.
This course is suitable for anyone looking to gain intermediate knowledge in welding, metal fabrication, or quality assurance as either a welding practitioner, engineer, metallurgist, or someone simply looking for more knowledge on the topic.
Successful completion of METL-301 meets the requirement of partial credit given towards the Level 1 welding inspector program. Learners wanting to stack this micro credential to complete the Level 1 welding inspector program must also complete all 11 designated micro credentials found in the attached L1 pathways document.
Mode of Delivery
This is an online self-directed course. Upon successful completion of all online lessons and achieving 70% or above on the course quiz, learners will receive a course completion certification with 8 PDH's.
Powered by D2L's Brightspace Learning Management System, upon enrollment learners will have 90-day access to complete all online lessons, and access digital books, exams, and course material.
