Welding Supervisor Aluminum

Course Overview

Although this course is designed for welding supervisors who want to increase their knowledge of managing a certified welding shop, it is also of interest to engineers, shop foremen, quality assurance personnel or others who want to develop an understanding of weld quality control and certification.

Students taking the course in-class

  • World-class teaching and knowledge from our CWB instructors.
  • An opportunity to network with other welding professionals.
  • Students will have access to the online portion of the course (CWB Learning Resources) for 90 days beginning 2 weeks before the course start date. This platform will provide course content, course quizzes and a digital copy of the study guides.
  • Participants will have access to download a certificate of attendance on successful completion of the course quizzes. Passing grade is 70%.
  • Participants are required to bring a device to class to complete course content and exams online.
  • Welding Supervisor exams will be available for completion on the next day, immediately following the course. Exam fees may apply. If you are not available on this day, please contact our Call Centre at info@cwbgroup.org or 1-800-844-6790 for further information on additional exam dates and locations or applicable exam fees.

Students taking the course online

  • The Online course is a self-directed course and covers all the material included in the classroom course.
  • Students will have access to the online portion of the course (CWB Learning Resources) for 90 days. This platform will provide course content, course quizzes and a digital copy of the study guides.
  • Participants will have access to download a certificate of attendance on successful completion of the course quizzes. Passing grade is 70%.
  • Students should note that they will need to travel to a proctored examination center or ÒõAPPµ¼º½ office to take the Welding Supervisor Exams. Any fees or costs associated with the proctoring of exams are not covered in the fees for this course.

The following topics will be covered

  • Requirements for aluminum shop certification, welder testing and procedure testing
  • Requirements of the aluminum fabrication standards including inspection of welded product, general fabrication practices, base metal preparation, and joint tolerances, etc.
  • Details of welding symbols and the identification causes and correction of welding discontinuities.
  • Quality control practices related to welding and common inspection methods.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course, but participants are encouraged to have knowledge of welding procedure specifications, proper operation of welding equipment, welding symbols, weld faults and quality control and inspection methods.

  • Please note: the latest versions of CSA W47.2 and W59.2 are required during the course.
