Presented At:
CanWeld Conference 2015

Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador is the subject of one of the most comprehensive seismic data acquisition programs in the world today. Since 2011, Nalcor Energy Oil and Gas has been working with global partners to acquire over 84,000 line km of 2D seismic data covering the offshore area. These efforts are shedding new insights on the region’s oil and gas potential: off the coast of Labrador, three new deepwater basins have been delineated and another expanded.

Less than 5% of the offshore area is currently under license in an area that is 1.5 times the size of the Gulf of Mexico. Nalcor; through the acquisition of new geoscience data, new scientific knowledge is being shared with the global oil and gas industry to help reduce risk and to find new oil and gas resources for the benefit of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
