Presented At:
CanWeld Conference 2018

During the past decade there have been a number of advances in power sources, sensing and hybrid welding technologies. These have opened the doors to the next generation of welding processes which will increase productivity and enable welding of new materials and joint configurations. The latest research activities at the Centre for Advanced Materials joining will be reviewed, along with an overview of new technologies to be explored in the coming years. Some of the latest trends and applications in hybrid laser/arc welding, friction stir welding, and wire arc additive manufacturing are discussed. The potential impacts of emerging technologies on various Canadian industries will also be critically assessed.
